Conceptualizing and Implementing Vehicle Model and Vehicle Build

In this case study, I will outline how I conceptualized and introduced the concept of VIRTO.MODEL and VIRTO.BUILD apps, along with the associated user experience enhancements

Overview

IPG Automotive, a leader in the automotive simulation industry, sought to expand their product offerings to meet the growing demand for virtual vehicle modeling and building tools. The challenge was to create two distinct but interconnected applications: VIRTO.MODEL for virtual vehicle modeling and VIRTO.BUILD for building vehicles using the models generated in VIRTO.MODEL.

Duration

5 Months

Role

Senior UI UX Designer

Problem Statement

The primary challenge was not a redesign, but rather the creation of two entirely new applications, each with a unique purpose, while ensuring seamless integration between them. Key objectives included:

Conceptualization

Develop a clear concept for VIRTO.MODEL and VIRTO.BUILD that aligns with IPG Automotive's goals and user needs.

Integration

Ensure that VIRTO.BUILD seamlessly utilizes the models created in VIRTO.MODEL, enhancing efficiency for users.

Usability

Design both apps with an intuitive and user-friendly interface, reducing the learning curve for new users.

Collaboration

Enable real-time collaboration features, promoting teamwork among users.

Seamless Model Import

  • Uploading new vehicle models into VIRTO.MODEL is a straightforward process. The user-friendly interface guides users through the upload process step by step.

  • VIRTO.MODEL simplifies the process of finding and selecting the right vehicle model by providing robust filtering options.

  • Ability to filter based on the payment status, folio date and invoices

Building Vehicle with Custom Model

  • VIRTO.BUILD offers users the capability to assemble a vehicle using a custom model as a foundation. Users can integrate their unique virtual vehicle models seamlessly into the assembly process.

  • Users can easily integrate various vehicle components into their custom model within VIRTO.BUILD. This includes engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and more

  • Once the custom model is assembled with components, VIRTO.BUILD enables users to simulate the vehicle's performance realistically.

Overview of Vehicles

Upon making changes to the payment amount or confirming it, users are directed to the payment screen.

  • The fleet overview page provides users with a comprehensive snapshot of the entire vehicle fleet at a glance. It presents essential information such as vehicle names, types etc.

  • To enhance usability, the fleet overview page offers interactive filters and sorting options. Users can filter vehicles based on various criteria such as vehicle type, fidelity sets, model fidelity status
